About the Event

The rise of far-right, anti-gender, and anti-rights movements threatens the progress made on gender equality, human rights, and climate justice across the UNECE region. As hard-won rights are challenged, civil society continues to mobilize in response.

This side event will bring together key stakeholders to discuss strategies, share insights, and explore solutions for defending democracy, climate justice, and gender equality in these critical times.

We believe in the strength of feminist, queer, and gender equality movements to hold the line, sustain resistance, and build lasting alliances. Join us for this crucial conversation to reflect on current struggles and generate ideas for collective action.

HLPF 2025 will take place on the theme, ‘Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for leaving no one behind’. It will conduct in-depth review of SDG 3 (good health and well-being), SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth), SDG 14 (life below water), and SDG 17 (partnerships for the Goals).
